TechCrunch have been tracking layoffs in the tech industry for about 6 months and it’s getting worse and worse.

John Gruber recently reported that Microsoft is about to cut 5,000 jobs, Sony is announcing $3 billion annual loss and Nokia is talking about a profit drop of 69%.

On the other side, Apple is reporting their best quarterly revenue and earnings in Apple history.

The competition is paying the hard price of having done nothing and having missed so many opportunities during the last 5 years. Now, with the economic downturn it will be even harder for them to catch up.
