The iFrame is a touch-screen web tablet powered by Ubuntu and with a custom interface close to the one of the iPhone. This tablet has been unveiled yesterday by Olivier Seres. The interface is pretty slick and the device looks awesome.
TechCrunch is also working on a similar project called the CrunchPad. Michael Arrington announced it a few month ago, by the lack of such devices on the market, he decided to build his own for an expected price tag of $299.
Well, apparently he was not the only one to work on such device. And the funny thing is that I heard about such project in Montreal.
Web tablets and Netbooks seems to be the next big thing for PC makers but also OS makers. Tariq Krim is currently working on JoliCloud, a Linux-powered OS for Netbooks and I also read about Google who might be also working on an Android version for Netbooks.
Congratulations to Olivier and his team, it’s a wonderful project.
