Chris Dannen from Fast Company:
Yes, Jobs has built and rebuilt the Apple empire with stunning foresight and intuition. But a lot of the brainpower behind the Apple Inc. we know today doesn’t belong to Jobs at all. Like any smart CEO, he’s picked smart people to back him up — not just yes-men who will execute his all-encompassing vision. Apple doesn’t have a Ballmer problem.

Once in the past Jobs was fired from Apple… You know the end of the story. What's the difference now ?

Yep but at the time, the company was already in a pretty bad shape and had not that many rock stars as it had right now (i.e. John Ive).

I tend to believe in people instead of systems. I think that even Ive would draw a platypus if his boss wants a duck with no wings… In other words, Jobs has a vision that is quite clear and this is what makes his products so powerful. If Apple looses this vision, I'm quite sure that the magic is gone.

I hope not.

The real question here is : who told that he would left soon ?

It's still a rumor especially as he will not attend Macworld SFO.
