Two major competitive frameworks merging is not happening everyday in the world of open source; quite the opposite actually.

The Rails team and the Merb team announced this week that they will work together on a joined version of the 2 frameworks.

This is a smart and wise decision. A joint effort is the best way to achieve great things. Congratulations to both teams.
