TwitterDroid (my humble Twitter client for Android) is now officially hosted at GitHub.
GitHub is a great place for hosting and contributing to open source projects and since I jumped on the Git bandwagon a while ago, it was the obvious choice.
I’ve written a few pages on the wiki and I plan to release a version 0.1.4 pretty soon. But don’t expect major changes, TwitterDroid hasn’t evolved much since the first alpha version I’ve released last year. It’s experimental and simple but functional.
This is why I’ve decided to put it in open source — instead of keeping it on my drive — so that other people could improve it. And thanks to Joe Bowbeer, my first contributor, it now works with the latest version of the Android SDK.
But there is more. Present.ly (a private microblogging service for businesses) has chosen TwitterDroid source code as a base for writing its own client.
It’s a good news and I’m very happy about it. A proof that TwitterDroid, even in its current form, is worth something.
