Downtime have been plaguing Twitter for some time now.

Twitter is not real time IM, so I don’t really care if I don’t get an update immediatly, but not being able to send your tweet is the most frustrating — especially when you’re using a desktop client; it keeps blocking.
Twitter is a sort of though notebook, you read or think about something interesting, you send a tweet — but when you can’t, you’re stuck and your though is gone; too bad, no backup.
Twitter is all about the moments and this is where it should not fail its users.
They should let the stream goes in anytime — storing tweets while the system is down. Of course, that might be a problem is the system is not able to recover fast enough and catch up with all the tweet you’ve been storing so far; I guess this is why they are not doing it yet.
Twitter has been receiving a lot of suggestions on how to improve the service so I guess they already know about it.
