The Flip is a minimalistic camcorder that does only one thing and do it well, record video. This device has taken 13% market share in only one year. It’s the iPod of camcorders.
The Flip has one push button to record video, wakes up in 2 seconds, has an integrated USB arm to connect to your computer and all needed software is included in its memory, you don’t have to install anything. The Flip costs only $149, so it’s a no brainer for most people.

David Pogue from the New York Times was thrilled by the simplicity of the device and recognized that despite its limited fonctionalites, it’s a winner.
Jason Fried from 37signals welcomed its simple design and the focus the company put into doing only one thing. It’s the essence of “less is more” design.
Only Available in US
For the price I wanted to give a try to the device and jumped to Amazon.com to order one. Unfortunately, The Flip is only available in the US at the time, and I’m quite dissapointed I can’t have one in Canada.
Next time I go to the US, I’ll bring one back with me.
Thanks to Heri Rakotomalala and Cecil Dijoux for pointing this to me.
