Blitzweekend just started tonite and I attented the kick-off party of this two days event, at the Sherbrooke University.

The objective of Blitzweekend is simple but quite challenging: gather your team, build and launch a product in the time of a week-end.

But Blitzweekend is more than a code challenge for geeks. Some of the sponsors are VC (like iNovia) and would look forward a team that could start a startup out of this challenge. Teams are asked to demonstrate their product but also a potential business model for it.

During the event, teams would be allowed to call experts for help about anything (technical or business related). I will participate as a tech expert, advising teams about any technical issue but also giving help in product management.

Blitzweekend is a great initiative of Heri Rakotomalala from Montreal Tech Watch proving again that Montreal is a very active scene for entrepreneurs and is growing fast.

Good luck to all teams.

UPDATE (03-02-08): Blitzweekend is over, don’t miss the photos.
