Can boring utility apps be fun? Austin Sarner and Brian Ball bet and won! AppZapper is a software removal utility for MacOS X, nothing you can be passionate at. But the app is so useful, simple and fun that you can’t help “zapping” applications just to hear the lazer sound.
They’re doing it again with Disco, a CD/DVD burning utility. Disco is very simple to use, have a clean design and a particle smoke FX. Neat!
AppZapper and Disco are not the only apps having great and simple design that works: Delicious Library — a DVD library, Transmit — an FTP client or iPulse — a system monitor, share the same philosophy.
These apps grow on Mac where designers are in control and users are ready to pay for good looking and simple apps.
UPDATE (10/30/2006): Disco is out in public beta.
