For one week now I’ve been under siege by spammers. After one of my articles about Rails have been referenced on a popular website, spammers found a breach and started a test campaign on my blog.

It all started by nice comments like “thanks for your website” or “I’m impressed, keep going!” and then I got dozens of garbage comments… Deleting all these spams started to be very annoying so I decided to find a solution before the real nightware begins.

My blog is powered by Wordpress and fortunately they have a solution called Akismet. It’s a collaborative system. Your blog automatically submit a comment for approval to Akismet and if a spam is detected it is put in quarantine within your blog — and not published.

Askismet comes as a simple plugin for Wordpress 1.5 and is bundled with Wordpress 2.0. I strongly recommend to install it.
