The 5th of April 2006 will be a day to remember! After months of hard investigations by hackers for running Windows XP on Intel-based Macs, Apple released yesterday Boot Camp a software for installing offically Windows XP on your Mac; just in a few clicks.
The news is huge, after all these years Apple is definitely changing its strategy, faster than ever. Even if pessimists think that it would be the end of MacOS X, I think its a great opportunity to attrack new switchers that would feel better by not abandoning Windows completely (at least at the beginning).
Macs are now turning into some kind of “universal computer” for running any kind of software on any major system of the market. By embracing Macs, companies and schools will drastically reduce their TCO. And I’m not talking about gamers that will enjoy games on Windows.
Technically speaking, Boot Camp is not a virtualization software (such as VMware Workstation or Parallels Workstation) where you can run Windows XP from MacOS X but a native installation. When starting your Mac, you’ll be proposed to start whether MacOS X or Windows. Simply works.
