The web is changing fast and everyday I discover new impressive web 2.0 apps. Fluxiom is one of these. From what I understood, Fluxiom is an online asset management system where you can store, manage and manipulate any kind of media files. It’s not ready yet commercial-ready and there is only a introduction video on the site. From the video, you can’t make the different from a desktop app, especially with the OS X design. That’s pretty impressive.

Fluxiom is written using Ruby on Rails and Javascript. One of the author is Thomas Fuchs. He also wrote the script.aculo.us, a great visual effects library for Javascript.

My recent experiments with Rails and Ajax techniques make me feel very excited about web development. Browsers are now very capable and mature software and the web is a flexible development environment. The Mosaic era is definitely far behind.
